Thallus smooth, glossy. Ascomata apothecia, conspicuous, reddish brown, dark brown or black, sessile, open, round, oval, ellipsoidal or slightly elongate, 0.3–0.5 mm diam., or to 0.7 mm long. Proper exciple completely carbonised. Hymenium 80–120 µm thick. Hypothecium black. Ascospores 8 per ascus, muriform, 8–11 × 2–4-locular, 34–44 × 12–15 µm. CHEMISTRY: No lichen compounds detected. |

Known from bark in northern N.T. and eastern Qld; also in North America, the Caribbean, South America, South and East Asia and the Pacific (including Norfolk Island). | ||
